🎤 Priyanka Dey, PhD Student in Computer Science

My name is Priyanka, and I am a 1st year CS PhD student at USC. Previously, I completed my master’s in CS and bachelor’s in Statistics and CS from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. I am broadly interested in computational science and NLP. I am interested in studying user attributes through textual data and building personalized systems based on users’ characteristics. In my spare time, I like to read many classics, paint, and sometimes bake bread!

Talk: Uncovering Coordinations in Twitter on the Gaza Conflict

Social media serves as a powerful platform for enabling users to share information and raise awareness on various social issues such as the political conflict in Gaza. However, the ease of access of social media also poses a challenge, specifically, facilitating the coordination and dissemination of malicious content. In this work, we present a few computational network analysis methods for identifying coordinated Twitter accounts who spread synchronized content regarding the Gaza conflict.
