🎤 Talk – Advancing Social Intelligence in AI: My Path Towards a Research Career
About Leena:
Leena Mathur is a PhD student at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Computer Science (CMU SCS) in the Language Technologies Institute. Her research focuses on foundations of multimodal intelligence, social intelligence, and embodied intelligence in AI systems interacting with humans in real-world contexts. Her PhD work is supported by the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. She has conducted robotics and machine learning research at Robust.AI, USC, Caltech, and EPFL and served as the President of USC’s Center for AI in Society’s Student Branch. Previously, Leena earned an M.S. from CMU SCS and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from USC with a B.S. in Computer Science, B.A. in Linguistics, and B.A. in Cognitive Science as a Goldwater Scholar, Astronaut Scholar, Global Scholar, Discovery Scholar, Renaissance Scholar, NAE Albert Dorman Grand Challenge Scholar, Provost’s Undergraduate Research Fellow, and CRA Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher.
