Geraldine (Gerrie) Peters' research specialty is Stellar Astrophysics with a focus on massive stars (including interacting binaries). She has studied the circumstellar plasmas, chemical composition, and evolution of these hot stars and is a co-discoverer of a new class of evolved binaries. Observational data are mostly spectra in the Far Ultraviolet region from numerous spacecraft for which funding has been provided by NASA for more than 75 projects. Gerrie has also served in elected offices for the International Astronomical Union (IAU), American Astronomical Society (AAS), and the Astronomical Society of the Pacific (ASP).
