Talk: Innovating Clean Water: Emerging Technologies and Systems for the Purification of Alternative Water Sources

As freshwater scarcity intensifies worldwide due to climate change and population growth, innovative solutions are required to harness non-traditional water resources, such as seawater, wastewater, and stormwater. In this talk, Kelly will first discuss her PhD research on the development of new materials and membranes for enhanced efficiency and performance in seawater desalination. Then, she will introduce her postdoctoral research on the integration of urban stormwater into wastewater reuse systems as a solution to freshwater scarcity in coastal cities like Los Angeles.
