STEM Bytes Seminar

The WiSE program developed a series of seminars aimed at undergraduate students at USC titled STEM Bytes. The goal of the series is to introduce students to research opportunities in science and engineering. Research talks are presented by USC Ph.D. students and postdoctoral scholars.

“Effects of Optical Optimization on the Mechanical Behavior of Highly Transparent Nanomultilayers”
Danielle E. White, PhD student in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science

Danielle E. White is a 4th year Materials Science doctoral student under the advisement of Dr. Andrea M. Hodge. Originally from Massachusetts, Danielle obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in 2019. Her current research focuses on optimizing the mechanical properties of highly transparent coatings with potential applications on mirrors, lenses, and even technology such as the James Webb Space Telescope. To enhance her graduate school experience, Danielle often finds opportunities to volunteer, explore, and create art.

“NNK Graphs for Time Series”
Ecem Bozkurt, PhD Student in Electrical and Computer Engineering

Ecem Bozkurt received her BS and MS in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey in 2014 and 2018, respectively. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD in Electrical Engineering at USC. She works with Professor Antonio Ortega, and she focuses on graphs for time-series signals.
